Participated in the initial forest investigation and later provided extensive testimony regarding the events. John Burroughs is a retired U.S. Air Force Security Police veteran who served for twenty-seven years, including active duty and reserves, from 1979 until his retirement. He is best known as a primary witness in the Rendlesham Forest incident (often called "Britain's Roswell"), where he and SSgt. Jim Penniston investigated unusual lights near RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge in England on December 26, 1980
