Carl Hart Jr.

Hart is a little different from the three professors.

Carl Hart Jr. was a Texas Tech freshman who became the most famous individual witness because he photographed the Lubbock Lights. On August 30, 1951, he saw approximately 18–20 lights moving overhead in a V-shaped formation. He retrieved a 35-mm Kodak camera and waited in his parents' backyard. When another formation appeared, he took five photographs.

The photographs were subsequently taken to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, published, and distributed nationally. The Air Force investigated them, including analysis at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The eventual conclusion was notably cautious: the photographs were never proven to be a hoax, but they also were not proven genuine as photographs of an extraordinary object.
