PV No. 445 — Valensole UFO Incident, France — July–August 1965
This document is a collection of official French Gendarmerie reports concerning an alleged encounter with an unidentified craft near Valensole, in the Basses-Alpes region of France, in July 1965.
The initial report concerns a local farmer who stated that, while working in his lavender field near the locality known as L’Olivol on July 1, 1965, he witnessed an unusual craft land in his field. According to his account, the object was a compact, grey, enclosed craft that appeared to rest on several supports or legs. He reported seeing two unusual human-like occupants, one of whom was outside the craft. After several minutes, the occupants returned to the craft, which then departed at extremely high speed.
French Gendarmerie officers subsequently visited the reported landing site and documented a physical disturbance in the soil, including a central hole and surrounding grooves or impressions. The officers photographed the location, prepared site sketches, recorded measurements, and produced an official report describing their observations. A later statement, recorded on August 23, 1965, provides additional details that the witness had initially withheld because he feared being ridiculed or disbelieved. The witness additionally reported experiencing a period of temporary physical immobility after the craft departed, followed by unusual tiredness and increased sleep in the days afterward. He stated that he had not taken medication and did not experience lasting changes to his eyesight or other significant physical effects.
